An independent clause as noted is sentence, in terms of parts with noun(s) and verb(s), that does not have to have support. However, it has a major purpose of allowing the usage of dependent clauses with independent clauses for support which is quite useful in advanced or expanded writing and can bring more detail in to the paper simply but using a different style. ~ M.
