Creon was brother of Jocasta and uncle of Oedipus. In the beginning of Oedipus Rex, he travels to visit the oracle of Delphi. When Creon arrives back home, he tells Oedipus that Apollo demanded they banish the man who killed King Laius. Creon is accused by Oedipus of conspiracy with Tiresias. After King Oedipus was exiled, Creon claimed the throne as king.
