Claude Lévi-Strauss

Claude Levi-Strauss was a French anthropologist and had influence on humanities. Born on November 28, 1908 in Brussels. He came from a Jewish family and later on he moved to Paris to continue his studies. He went to Law School there and studied philosophy. Strauss taught for a while and ended up getting his PhD. He became a professor at the College of France. He was know for his book, Tristes Tropiques, and it talked about anthropological structuralism. Later on he published The Savage Mind, which was his important work. He died when he was 100 years old on October 1, 2009.
