Transliterate

Defined literally as, "to represent or spell in the characters of another alphabet" by Merriam-Webster Online This process' aim is to recreate the sound or meaning of one language in the alphabet of another. There exist many different processes for the conversion from certain languages to others, for instance the Cyrillic to English translation is sometimes referred to as Romanization of Russian In our context, it is the process by which Cyrillic names are written in English.
