Ulysse et Calypso, by Arnold Bröcklin

Odysseus, trapped by Kalypso’s enchantments, remains on her island. Moved by his plight, Athena asks Zeus to free Odysseus and send him home. Zeus orders Hermes to go to Kalypso and command her to release Odysseus and help him reach Skheria, an island near Ithaka. Kalypso complies with Zeus’ demands, but warns Odysseus of Poseidon’s possible interference. As Odysseus approaches the shores of Skheria, Poseidon attacks with waves and wind. With the help of Ino, Athena, and the god of the streams, Odysseus swims to land, falling asleep under a pile of warm leaves.
