How does a wiki differ from a blog?
BLOG/WIKI While both wikis and blogs are helpful and informative in today's electronic world, they have certain differences that make one or the other more appropriate for certain applications.
BLOG A blog is an individual's writings and submissions that coincide with that blog's theme, whatever it may be. Blog entries then may be commented on by the viewers of that blog. This can be a helpful way to gain feedback from an audience. Blogs are websites entries that are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order. Blogs provide conmentary or news on particular subjects, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries.
WIKI A wiki is a web-based document that may be changed and edited by anyone with the appropriate clearance. In some cases, such as wikiopedia, anybody is allowed to alter an article's contents. Wiki supports hyperlinks and has a simple text syntax for creating new pages and cross links between internal pages on the fly.
BLOG vs. WIKI A blog is ideal when you wish to post information and receive feedback while keeping the original text unchanged. On the other hand a wiki may be ideal when you wish to have as much input as possible so that the information in the article is as thorough, clear, and current as possible. (1)
