This professional communications class has taught me many essential things that can be useful in the work force. I have learned that selling yourself is a huge part of professional communication. You can do this by putting other people first. Listen and be respectful to others, even if you do not agree with what they have to say. Make the audience believe that they are your number one priority. Be confident in yourself so that your audience will have confidence in you. Remember that Brevity is the “golden rule.” Initially, when I signed up for this class, I did not have many expectations. After participating in this class, I have realized that this class is very important to have, especially if somebody is planning to be on a professional level. I am glad that I learned about important business documents such as letters, memos, e-mails, and the most important document of them all, the resume. You should constantly revise and make necessary changes to your resume, as you get more experienced in the work force. I know now to be concise. I am glad I know that now, while I am still young. The class project was a good learning tool for me, although sometimes it was unorganized. I learned to be a team player and I learned good research methods. I will say that if I had it to do all over again, I would know specific changes I would make to improve my part of the project. I have to admit that sometimes I felt clueless on what I was supposed to be doing, but now I know some of the things that I could have done to stay on top of the game. The project not only taught me about researching, but it taught me useful information on credit that I can use in my life.
