Eurymechus was a suitor from Itica. He is the son of Polybus and was the second of the suitors to be killed by Odysseus. He was said to be very manipulative and deceitful. Depsite these characterisitcs, his Charisma allowed him to become one of the most important suitors (http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/odyssey/terms/char_8.html). Before his death he tried to convience the other suitors to fight against Odysseus saying "Friends, the man is implacable. Now that he has his hands on bow and quiver he'll shoot from teh big door there until he kills us to the last man, Fight I say"! This is a very arrogant position to take considering Odysseus' stregnths. To think that he could rightfully fight Odysseus in his own home lead to his quick death.
