It takes a numbered or unnumbered first parameter as a substitute for the word "article", e.g. <code>|section</code>. Using {{para|section|yes}} or {{para|section|y}} will also output the specific word "section".

Like all other cleanup templates, it accepts {{para|date|{{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}}} or <code><nowiki>|{{subst:DATE}}</nowiki></code>.

For more specific wording, {{para|many|y}} limits the complaint to '''too many quotations''', while {{para|lengthy|y}} limits it to '''overly lengthy quotations'''.

When an article uses both '''too many {{em|and}} overly lengthy quotations''', use neither parameter, or explicitly use {{para|both|y}} (trying {{para|many|y}}{{para|lengthy|y}} will suppress, not show, both).
